EmpressVR is both a co-operative business, and also a global community of virtual reality developers, artists, sound designers, world builders, motion capture specialists, robotics engineers, immersive actors, creative technologists, and innovators.  

Our central objective is Amplifying Diverse Voices in Immersive Storytelling.

Here are the differences between becoming a member of the Co-operative vs. Community:

Co-operative Membership

  • Basic membership is £1

  • For the duration of your membership, you are a part owner of the business!

  • You choose how you prefer to economically participate in our operations

  • You get to have a vote in how we run the business!

  • You will benefit from training in how Cooperatives are run

  • Leadership or business training in any area that interests YOU

  • We are non-competitive, meaning your can start your own company or cooperative and we’ll support you and collaborate with you! Your success shows that we’re doing a good job! What you learn here, you can take anywhere!

  • You will work with us as a team to Amplify Diverse Voices in Immersive Storytelling!

Community Membership

  • Always totally free!

  • The community is on WhatsApp and Discord

  • We meet up regularly in the UK, and we support other local communities forming and meeting up as well!

EmpressVR has been sponsoring the Bristol Immersive Socials WhatsApp group since Summer 2023! As a benefit to our community, we loosely organize a monthly pub hangout, for Immersive Makers to come together, share ideas, get informal mentorship and advice, and chat about the struggles and share the victories of our careers!

The Guy Fawkes
Ladder Safety Committee

  • The Guy Fawkes Ladder Safety Committee meets annually on the Saturday before the 5th of November (Remember Remember!) to go on a very silly pub crawl, educating the public about UK ladder safety statistics and entertaining people with very dark humour.

  • It all began in 2019, when Dominique learned the true story of Guy Fawkes, and his unfortunate ladder safety incident.

  • You see, Guy Fawkes was not burned on a bonfire (as many people tend to assume!) but he was tried for treason, found guilty, and sentenced to be hung, drawn, and quartered.

  • But this was in the days before high quality health and safety standards, and on the day of the very public scheduled execution, tragedy occurred. Guy Fawkes was not practicing proper ladder safety technique and as a result he fell off the ladder, breaking his neck.

  • This was very disappointing to the gathered crowds, and every 5th of November Brits spend time in parks having a bonfire to commemorate the historical disappointment.

  • To ensure that every criminal makes it to the gallows safely, and that this national disappointment is never repeated, the Guy Fawkes Ladder Safety Committee has come together for education and shenanigans with a ladder each year.
